Happy Holidays! I am so excited for this month, I personally celebrate Christmas and am so excited about giving and receiving presents! We have hardly started December and I am already shopping for gifts, drinking hot chocolate everyday and counting down the days till the break… I am so excited for this months edition of Diya’s Newsletter by me, Diya. I am currently a grade 8 student, who is interested in education, research and fusion energy. At the start of every month, I will be sending out a newsletter that will talk about things I’m working on, my goals for the month, a podcast and book recommendation and thought of the month.
Fusion Energy Simulation
After my fusion energy article I started becoming a lot more interested in the topic. I was extremely interested the logistics and how long it would take to make fusion energy a reality. After a lot more in depth research about how the reactors work I started creating a simulation of a stellarator (machine used to create fusion energy). I am hoping that I can also incorporate augmented reality so that students can easily explore the different components and understand the actual size of components relative to their real surrounding. I am also writing a speech that debates weather we should continue to pursue fusion energy, which I might upload to medium later in this month.
A healthier lifestyle
During the pandemic I definitely gained a little bit of weight. I also (like most people) took up baking as a hobby and started leading an unhealthy lifestyle. During this month, I am trying to develop constant habits that I can easily maintain. While reflecting on how I can manage getting enough physical activity and also keeping up my school I created a checklist that I fill out everyday that makes sure I took adequate care of my physical and mental health. I think that working out has allowed me to feel more energetic, and makes me feel accomplished and good about myself at the start of the day. Find the checklist here.
